Leadership Skill Development Program – Level One

Learning to Lead

A Two-Day Intensive Workshop for Frontline and Middle Managers
“The time is always right to do right things.”

Most people are promoted into their first leadership role because they were excellent at their previous job,

Not Because Anyone Taught Them How to Lead.

The technical skills that earned them the promotion are rarely the skills that will make them succeed in it. This is the gap that creates frustrated new managers, confused teams, and the early leadership failures that cost organizations far more than they realize.
Learning to Lead is IKTAR’s Leadership Training Program Pakistan is a foundational leadership program, built specifically for professionals making this exact transition. Over two intensive days, frontline and middle managers move from thinking like an individual contributor to thinking like a leader: someone responsible not just for their own output, but for the output, growth, and morale of an entire team.
This is not a theoretical management course. It is a practical, structured introduction to the core mechanics of leadership, delivered through real scenarios, guided practice, and direct feedback, so participants leave with skills they can apply on Monday morning, not just notes they will forget by Friday.

Who This Program Is For

Learning to Lead is designed for

• Newly promoted supervisors and team leads who have been given authority but not the tools to use it well
• Frontline managers in production, operations, retail, or service environments who manage people day to day
• High-potential employees identified for future leadership roles who need a strong foundation before stepping up
• Middle managers who have been leading informally for some time but have never received structured leadership training
• Entrepreneurs and small business owners building their first team and discovering that running a business and leading people are two different skills

If your organization is promoting from within and wants to make sure those promotions succeed rather than struggle, this is the program built for that exact moment.

What Participants Learn

By the end of the two days, participants will be able to:

• Make the mental shift from “doing the work” to “leading the people who do the work”
• Set clear expectations that reduce confusion and repeated mistakes
• Give feedback that corrects behavior without damaging morale or trust
• Recognize and adapt to different motivation styles within their team
• Handle the early conflicts and pushback that come with new authority
• Build initial credibility with a team that may include former peers
• Avoid the most common first-90-days mistakes new leaders make in the Pakistani workplace context

Methodology

Program Structure and Methodology

Format: Two-day in-person workshop
Group Size: Optimal cohort of 12 to 20 participants
Methodology: Role plays, simulations, brainstorming, application activities, skill-building exercises, and “expect-the-unexpected” scenario drills
Delivery Options: Public workshop with scheduled dates, or in-house program customized to your organization

This program does not rely on lecture-style delivery. Every concept introduced is immediately practiced through a realistic scenario, so participants are not just told what good leadership looks like, they experience the decision points themselves under guided supervision.

Why IKTAR

Every IKTAR training program begins with a Training Needs Analysis (TNA), not a fixed curriculum applied regardless of context. Before this program is delivered in-house, IKTAR’s trainers meet with participants, review the workplace, and understand the specific leadership challenges your team is facing, then tailor the two days accordingly.
This program is led by Shafqat Jilani, a Certified Master Trainer (Futures Group, Washington DC) with over 25 years of experience developing leaders across Pakistan’s manufacturing, services, banking, and social sectors. Learning to Lead reflects two and a half decades of watching what actually works when someone steps into leadership for the first time, and what consistently does not.
Following the workshop, IKTAR provides a free training review report highlighting gains, areas for further development, and specific suggestions for ongoing manager support, ensuring the learning does not end when the workshop does.
