The Core Disciplines Every Manager in Pakistan Must Master

Managerial Skills

A Two-Day Workshop on Planning, Delegation, Feedback, and Accountability
“Management is not a title. It is a daily set of decisions about what to plan, what to delegate, what to measure, and what to address when the answer is not good enough.”

Management is one of those roles where the gap between knowing what to do and actually doing it consistently is unusually wide.

Most managers know they should plan ahead, delegate clearly, give feedback regularly, and hold their team accountable to commitments.

Very few do all four consistently, under pressure, across different team members, and across the full twelve months of a working year. The gap is not knowledge. It is the practical skill of applying these disciplines when it is inconvenient, when the team member is a friend, when the deadline is tomorrow, and when the organization’s informal culture quietly discourages the kind of direct management that actually produces results.
Managerial Skills Training Pakistan is IKTAR’s foundational management program, covering the four disciplines that determine whether a manager produces consistent results or produces inconsistent ones depending on which team member they are managing and how much pressure they are under. The program builds planning discipline, the ability to translate organizational goals into team priorities and individual tasks with enough clarity that the team can execute without constant rework. It builds delegation skill, the ability to hand over work in a way that expands team capability rather than creating dependency. It builds feedback practice, the specific habit of giving direct, timely, specific feedback that changes behavior rather than general comments that do not. And it builds accountability, the willingness to follow through when commitments are not kept rather than letting standards slide quietly.
This program is pitched at managers across all functions and industries. The four disciplines are universal regardless of whether a manager leads an accounts team, a production floor, an NGO program, or a sales force.

Who This Program Is For

Managerial Skills is designed for:

• New and recently promoted managers who have not yet received formal management training and are building their approach from observation and instinct
• Experienced managers who are strong in their functional area but have never systematically developed their people management and team leadership capability
• Organizations building a management capability baseline across a broad bench of managers rather than training only selected high-potentials
• Managers whose performance reviews consistently note soft skill gaps: delegation, feedback, or holding people accountable, without those gaps ever being directly addressed through training
• Senior managers who want to invest in their direct reports’ management capability before those direct reports are promoted further

If the difference in output between your best manager and your weakest manager is primarily a skills gap rather than a motivation gap, this program is built to close it.

What Participants Learn

By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

• Translate organizational goals into clear team priorities and individual task assignments with enough specificity that rework is minimized
• Delegate work in a way that develops team members rather than simply offloading tasks, matching the level of autonomy given to the team member’s actual capability
• Give feedback that is specific, timely, and behavioral rather than general, delayed, and personality-based
• Hold a team member accountable to a missed commitment directly and professionally without avoiding the conversation or making it disproportionately confrontational
• Run a team meeting that is useful rather than obligatory, producing decisions and actions rather than updates that could have been an email
• Adapt their management approach to different team members’ needs and capability levels rather than managing everyone the same way

Methodology

Program Structure and Methodology

Format: Two day in-person workshop
Group Size: Optimal cohort of 12 to 20 managers
Methodology: Self-assessment, role plays across all four disciplines, peer coaching exercises, and an individual management development plan built during the workshop
Delivery Options: Public workshop with scheduled dates, or in-house program for a management team or cohort
Training
The workshop opens with an honest self-assessment that helps each manager identify which of the four disciplines they are strongest in and which they consistently avoid or underperform. The rest of the two days builds the weaker areas through practice rather than spending equal time on skills the participant already possesses.

Why IKTAR

Management development programs that focus on theory and frameworks without behavioral practice rarely change what managers actually do on Monday morning. IKTAR’s approach is built around doing, not listening: each discipline is introduced with a minimal explanation and then practiced immediately in a realistic scenario so participants experience the discomfort and skill-building that real application requires before they face it in their actual team.
The program reflects the specific management challenges Pakistani organizations face most often, rather than importing examples and case studies from different organizational cultures.
Following the workshop, IKTAR provides a free training review report identifying each participant’s management development priorities and specific actions recommended for the first thirty days after returning to work.
