Understanding and Managing Emotions at Work, Your Own and Everyone Else’s

Mastering Emotional Intelligence

A Psychology-Grounded Workshop for Professionals Who Lead, Collaborate, or Serve People. Emotional Intelligence Training Pakistan
“The professional who understands what is driving the room has an advantage no technical qualification can replicate.”

Emotional intelligence has become one of

the most discussed leadership and professional skills of the last two decades.

It has also become one of the most poorly taught, often reduced to a short module about empathy, followed by a quiz. Genuine EI development requires something more demanding: honest self-examination, feedback from others, and the deliberate practice of emotional regulation under real pressure, not just in a calm workshop environment.
Mastering Emotional Intelligence Training Pakistan is IKTAR’s program for building practical EQ capability in the Pakistani professional context. It covers the four core competencies of emotional intelligence: self-awareness, the ability to recognize one’s own emotional state and its impact on behavior; self-regulation, the ability to manage that state rather than being driven by it; social awareness, the ability to accurately read the emotional landscape of a team, meeting, or relationship; and relationship management, the ability to use that understanding to lead, influence, and collaborate more effectively.
This program is particularly valuable for managers and leaders, since EI has been shown consistently to be the single best predictor of effective leadership performance, outpacing both technical skill and IQ as experience levels increase. It is grounded in the same applied psychology framework that underpins IKTAR’s approach to stress management, and draws on Shafqat Jilani’s published work in The Emotionally Intelligent Leader (2026).

Who This Program Is For

Mastering Emotional Intelligence is designed for:

• Managers and leaders who are technically strong but find interpersonal and team dynamics more challenging than the technical work
• HR professionals who need to navigate emotionally complex situations, grievances, performance conversations, and organizational change
• Sales and customer service teams whose performance depends on reading and responding to customer emotional states accurately
• Any professional who has been told they are difficult to work with, reactive under pressure, or poor at reading the room, and wants to change that
• Organizations investing in leadership development who want to add genuine EI capability to their managers rather than simply ticking a box

If your leaders and managers have the technical knowledge to succeed but leave a trail of damaged relationships, unmotivated teams, or unresolved conflicts behind them, EI is almost certainly the missing piece.

What Participants Learn

By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

• Identify their own emotional triggers and the specific situations most likely to undermine their professional effectiveness
• Apply self-regulation techniques that prevent emotional reactions from derailing important conversations or decisions
• Read the emotional state of individuals and groups accurately enough to adjust their approach in real time
• Have the difficult conversations that most professionals avoid without losing composure or damaging the relationship
• Use empathy as a practical leadership tool rather than a soft concept, building trust and followership in their team
• Recognize the emotional dynamics driving conflict, resistance, and disengagement in their team and address them directly

Methodology

Program Structure and Methodology

Format: One-day in-person workshop
Group Size: Optimal cohort of 12 to 20 participants
Methodology: EI self-assessment, structured peer feedback, scenario-based emotional regulation practice, and personal EI development planning
Theoretical Foundation: Goleman’s four-domain EI model, grounded in and interpreted through the lens of Shafqat Jilani’s MSc in Applied Psychology and 25 years of Pakistani workplace observation
Delivery Options: Public workshop with scheduled dates, or in-house program for a management team or leadership cohort

The workshop includes a structured self-assessment at the start and a peer feedback component where participants receive honest, specific input on how their emotional expression and regulation actually lands with others at work. This combination of self-perception and external perception is where genuine EI development begins.

Why IKTAR

Emotional intelligence training is one of the most frequently diluted professional development topics. IKTAR’s version is different in a specific and verifiable way: it is led by someone with an MSc in Applied Psychology, meaning the psychological mechanisms being discussed are understood at an academic level, not simply borrowed from a popular business book. The techniques recommended are grounded in how the human emotional system actually works, not in what sounds plausible.
This program is led by Shafqat Jilani, a Certified Master Trainer (Futures Group, Washington DC) and holder of an MSc in Applied Psychology, whose book The Emotionally Intelligent Leader (2026) extends the workshop’s core ideas for managers who want to continue developing after the session ends.
Following the workshop, IKTAR provides a free training review report identifying each participant’s EI profile based on the day’s assessment and feedback, and specific development recommendations for continued growth.
