The Modern Office Professional as Organizational Anchor

Modern Secretarial Practices & Office Management

A Two-Day Workshop for Administrative and Office Management Professionals
“The best executive assistants and office managers do not just support the organization. They hold it together.”

The role of the administrative professional has changed

more dramatically in the last decade than almost any other function in the Pakistani workplace.

Technology has eliminated many of the purely clerical tasks that once defined the role, while simultaneously raising expectations around coordination, communication, information management, and the ability to support senior executives operating at higher speed and complexity than ever before. The administrative professional who thrives today is not a more efficient typist. They are a skilled organizational operator.
Modern Secretarial and Office Management Training is IKTAR’s program for this evolved role. It covers the full range of skills the modern administrative professional needs to perform at the level Pakistani organizations now require: managing complex calendars and executive schedules, handling sensitive correspondence with appropriate judgment, organizing meetings and events that actually run well, managing office systems and information flows, and operating as a trusted, discreet extension of senior leadership rather than a support function operating at arm’s length.
This program is the broader, more strategic companion to IKTAR’s Secretarial Practices program. Where Secretarial Practices focuses on the foundational technical and communication skills of the role, this program addresses the systems, judgment, and organizational capability that distinguish a senior administrative professional from a junior one.

Who This Program Is For

Modern Secretarial Practices & Office Management is designed for:

• Senior executive assistants and personal assistants supporting C-suite, director-level, or senior management executives
• Office managers responsible for the smooth operation of a department or organizational facility
• Administrative professionals being groomed for more senior roles who need to develop beyond the technical basics
• Organizations upgrading their administrative function and wanting their support staff to operate at a higher professional standard
• Participants who have completed Secretarial Practices and are ready for the more advanced, strategic layer of office management capability

If your senior administrative staff are technically competent but have not developed the broader organizational judgment and systems thinking the role now demands, this program closes exactly that gap.

What Participants Learn

By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

• Manage complex executive schedules, competing priorities, and last-minute changes with composure and accuracy
• Handle sensitive correspondence and confidential information with the judgment and discretion that senior roles demand
• Design and manage office systems and information flows that reduce friction rather than creating it
• Organize meetings, events, and travel logistics that work seamlessly from the executive’s perspective
• Communicate upward, downward, and laterally with the clarity and professionalism expected at a senior administrative level
• Act as an effective organizational bridge between senior leadership and the rest of the organization

Methodology

Program Structure and Methodology

Format: Two day in-person workshop
Group Size: Optimal cohort of 12 to 20 participants
Methodology: Case-based office management scenarios, correspondence and communication exercises, schedule and systems design exercises, and role plays covering difficult executive support situations
Delivery Options: Public workshop with scheduled dates, or in-house program for an administrative team
Training
The workshop uses realistic scenarios drawn from Pakistani organizational contexts: the executive whose schedule changes three times before 10am, the sensitive communication that needs to be drafted without the executive’s full guidance, the meeting that needs to be organized across four time zones. These are the situations administrative professionals actually face, and the workshop prepares them for exactly these moments.

Why IKTAR

Administrative and secretarial training is one of the most overlooked investment areas in Pakistani corporate development. Organizations spend heavily on leadership and sales training while the administrative professionals who keep those leaders productive and those sales processes running are rarely developed deliberately. IKTAR’s program addresses this gap directly, treating the administrative role with the same professional seriousness as any other function.
This program is led by Shafqat Jilani, a Certified Master Trainer (Futures Group, Washington DC) with over 25 years of experience working with administrative and support teams across Pakistan’s corporate, NGO, and public sector organizations.
Following the workshop, IKTAR provides a free training review report identifying each participant’s strongest capability area and the specific systems or skills most likely to increase their effectiveness immediately after returning to work.
